Credentials (fishing): Recreational fished all of my life; focused upon crappie fishing since early 80's; successful in club tournaments for several years; have obtained more knowledge than ever possible to apply from fishing with guides, pros and expert recreational fishermen.
Credentials (writing): Author of six books; editor/sr writer of the Crappie Masters magazine; Seasonal Structure columnist and feature articles for CRAPPIE World magazine; regular in Outdoor Guide and MidSouth Hunting & Fishing News; seminars on crappie fishing; many past writing and photo credits with various magazines since 1988.

Favorite memories: Fishing with my sons. Although their time in the boat was limited due to my work and their sports schedule, it was the best times. Deer camp.
Favorite technique: I've changed to pulling crankbaits as one of my favorites. My other is vertical jigging timber because I love to feel the thump and set the hook.                                                                                                                                                           
Equipment: Field testing a lot of different products has me switching back and forth a lot but here's what I'll normally be using on a fishing trip:
* Long poles: Grizzly Elite (for vertical jigging);  BnM Capps/Coleman poles for slow-trolling. Casting, longlining and deep vertical jigging gets the BnM Jim Duckworth Float & Fly 8-ft spinning. Spinning reels are Cardinals or BnM.
* Line: Mostly Triple Fish Fluorcarbon and High Visibility
* Baits: I often use minnows. For jigging, a 3/32 TeeZur jighead and Southern Pro Umbrella tube tipped with a minnow, Crappie Nibble or Kodiak minnow paste. Will throw a Slider Grub in thick brush and will fast troll Roadrunners. Bandit 300-series crankbaits.

About my belief: Anyone who knows me will tell you that I don't preach to others. I go to church regularly but am not a Bible scholar. I don't always lead the life I should and I sometimes say things I regret. However, I try to do what's right, stand for what I believe and am not ashamed to say that I'm a Christian. God has blessed me with many great people and events in my life, helped me through some very tough times and provided the way for me to have eternal life.
